Hanham Chess Club

The 66th Annual General Meeting of the Hanham Chess Club will be held on Tuesday 15th May, starting at 7:30 pm. Please inform me by 8th May latest, if you have any motions to be considered.

Hanham Gambit Night will take place in the Club’s Room from 7:30 pm. next week 8th May. This is an event in the Bristol League Grand Prix and we expect visitors from other clubs to be taking part. – Entry fee of £3.00 will be collected at the door. – There will be prizes dependent on entry. Please advise Roger or Steve by Monday of your entry so that we can cater for the numbers expected.

Members are reminded that Community Centre subscriptions are due from April.

I’m sorry to have to let you know of the passing of Ian Biddick who was for many years one of the most active and supportive members of Hanham (formerly ‘Hanham & Kingswood’) Chess Club. Ian was a prime mover in the Hanham Congresses and in the induction and training of new players in the area. Likewise he will be remembered throughout the Bristol and District Chess League as a strong contender in most of its congresses, he also regularly travelled to many distant venues especially in Cornwall / Devon (from where he originated) and the North West.

A short Humanist Funeral and Cremation will be held at Westerliegh on 27th April at 4:00 pm.
